Gift Wrapping Ideas - Gift Box Tutorial
Hi, everyone! A new day is comming and here are new gift wrapping ideas.
The holidays are fast approaching and with it come thoughts about gift giving. I want my packaging to be as special as the homemade goodies inside, but I also need it to be quick and easy. Time is at a premium, especially during the holidays! Here is a gift box idea that is made to fit an 8oz jelly jar and sooo much more!
Supply list:
(2) 12″ sheets of cardstock
Winter Wonderland paper pack or something similar
Black ink pen
Ribbon
Quickie Glue Pen
Glitter
2 medium large brads
Scissors
Scor-Tape or Red liner tape
Score both sides of 1 sheet of 12×12 cardstock at 4 1/2″ and 7 1/2″. (Note that the + pieces are the sides and bottom of your box and you will be cutting the 4 outside squares down to form tabs)
Cut along the score lines on 2 opposite sides, up to the first score line. Next, cut away 2 1/2″ inches of each outside square, leaving 2″ tabs as shown. (save the scraps) Trim away the inside corners of the tabs as shown. This makes assembly of the box easier.
Add adhesive to the tabs as shown. Be sure to use a strong adhesive like Scor-Tape or red liner tape.
Assemble box.
For the lid, use the second piece of 12×12 cardstock to cut a piece 5 1/8″ by 5 1/8″ square. Score all 4 sides at 1″. Cut along score lines on opposite sides, up to the first score line. Cut tabs as shown (this will give you a cleaner looking lid). Apply adhesive and assemble lid.
Set aside.
Decide on your main image, cut to fit the front of your box. Use a Quickie Glue Pen and fine glitter to add sparkle to all the snow in the image. Cut the plain accent papers so you have 3 pieces measuring 2 7/8″ by 4 3/8″. Adhere those to the other 3 sides of your box. Add ribbon to the lid if desired. You can also accent with more paper.
Cut a strip of 12″ x 1″ piece of cardstock for your handle. Add ribbon to the handle if desired. Attach handle to your box, below the lid, using 2 brads. By using brads, the handle can be moved out of the way to remove the lid.
Use some of your scraps to make a tag. Use Quickie Glue pen and glitter to add more sparkle. Attach tag to your handle.
Second gift box with different papers. The finished box measures 4 1/2″ tall by 3″ wide and 3″ deep. It will fit a bag of cookies, fudge, or any number of goodies.
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and this gift wrapping idea and you are inspired to make your own packaging!
